You're In For a Treat!

My little writers

You probably didn’t realize it, but today is Christmas Eve; at least it is at my house. We are leaving on a family vacation, a gift to us, this Sunday. We will be gone over Christmas, which has given us all kinds of things to ponder. Since we don’t want to carry gifts with us as we travel, Russ and I considered postponing our celebration until our return, but our kids weren’t thrilled with that idea. So we settled on “Christmas” being Saturday, Dec. 19th.

It’s a bit strange since Dimples will head off to school today, Russ will go to work, and my big kids are recovering from finals. I also lost an entire week of preparation time…which is becoming increasingly painful! I’m hoping my kids are going to be energized and ready to help when they wake up this morning.

Today all gifts must be wrapped, cooking must be done, hair must be braided and suitcases packed. I won’t bore you with the details because this would become a long, torturous post. Don’t worry, I have it all written down on a large legal pad covered with post-it notes of the last minute things I’m afraid will fall right out of my brain.

The good news is that A Bushel and a Peck is going to be better than ever while I’m gone! Rather than have unrealistic expectations of writing during travel, and rather than let my blog sit idle, I invited some wonderful women to write guest posts while I’m gone. These ladies write blogs that I love, and when I asked them if they would consider being Guest Authors, nearly every single one of them agreed. The one exception was my friend who is very busy, very humble, and getting ready to leave for Ethiopia again soon. I’ll feature her writing another time. I have enough great posts that I have saved a few for January when we are traveling to Seattle.

Some of the writers are young moms, while some are more “mature”…like me. One lives five minutes away, while one lives in Asia. What they hold in common is their love for God, their husbands, and their children. They have each adopted at least one child…some have adopted many. I hope you enjoy getting to know my friends and benefit from their wisdom.

Keep those Tuesday Topic answers coming…it is going to be a good one. If you haven’t had a chance to see the question it is Fierce Competition Among Siblings.

If you would like to be a Guest Author on A Bushel and a Peck in the future, please let me know.

Have a very Merry Christmas and I will see you all soon!

~Lisa

Let me introduce myself. Russ and I are the parents of twelve children by birth and adoption, and sometimes more through foster care. I'm the creator of One Thankful Mom which has been as much of a gift to me as to my readers. In 2011 I became a TBRI® Pracitioner* and have lived and breathed connected parenting ever since. I'm deeply honored to be the co-author, together with the late Dr. Karyn Purvis, of The Connected Parent; it is her final written work. I love speaking at events for adoptive and foster parents. I'm also the co-founder of The Adoption Connection, a podcast and resource site for adoptive moms. I mentor and encourage adoptive moms so you can find courage and hope in your journeys of loving your children well.
