What Do You Think? (and a giveaway)

Building a website is a lot like moving into a new house.

We move in and arrange our belongings – maybe even hanging a few pictures on the walls. Then a week later, we realize that the furniture doesn’t seem quite right, so the bookcase in the living room is moved to a bedroom, and the picture hung in the upstairs hallway is moved to the wall next to the front door.

We want our homes to look good – and function well; sometimes we have to live in them a little to figure out how to get it just right.

The same is true for Thankful Moms.

Our site has been live since Monday, and we’re eager to know what you think. What do you like, and not like, about how it looks? Does it function well and make sense to you?

You may have noticed the menu above our photos at the very top of the page. When you click on any of those tabs they take you to different pages on our site. You can read my adoption story, and Jennifer’s and find links to some of our most popular posts.

There is a page for Kalkidan’s story too, which made me cry, so I decided to pace myself and will add more to it over time. Kalkidan is a huge part of why I continued to write One Thankful Mom for ten years – which is a long time in the blog world! She challenged me to grow and learn, cry out to God on my face, and seek meaning in my life.

I owe so much to her.

As I said Monday, this is not a turning away from the years at One Thankful Mom, rather a growing upward from the roots I put down there.

It is an honor to still be writing ten years later, and the fact that you are still reading nearly makes me cry. You are the best readers in the world.

In celebration of our brand new site, we’re giving away a beautiful Thankful or Thankful Mom necklace to one of you!

You get up to four chances to win the necklace of your choice – please leave a separate comment here for each chance.

  1. Share about and link to our We’re Here welcome post on Facebook or your personal blog.
  2. Share about and link to our Thankful Necklaces and Beauty for Ashes post on Facebook.
  3. “Like” our Thankful Moms Facebook page, if you don’t already.
  4. Follow Thankful Moms on Pinterest (formerly One Thankful Mom).

(The easiest way to share on Facebook is to go to our Thankful Moms Facebook page and use the “share” button below our posts. Scroll down a little to find the We’re Here Welcome post and the Thankful Necklaces post.)

That’s it!

We’ll draw a winner at 9:00 PDT on Monday, April 10, 2016.

We truly wish we could give one to each of you!

with hope and gratitude,

Lisa and Jennifer

Let me introduce myself. Russ and I are the parents of twelve children by birth and adoption, and sometimes more through foster care. I'm the creator of One Thankful Mom which has been as much of a gift to me as to my readers. In 2011 I became a TBRI® Pracitioner* and have lived and breathed connected parenting ever since. I'm deeply honored to be the co-author, together with the late Dr. Karyn Purvis, of The Connected Parent; it is her final written work. I love speaking at events for adoptive and foster parents. I'm also the co-founder of The Adoption Connection, a podcast and resource site for adoptive moms. I mentor and encourage adoptive moms so you can find courage and hope in your journeys of loving your children well.
