What are you Thankful for?

I feel myself drifting into a place of dissatisfaction and grumpiness – which is ridiculous when I’m getting ready to leave for Whidbey Island, my favorite place in the world. I need to practice gratitude, so here we go.

giving thanks #1131 – 1140

my niece, who took Sunshine to camp

a family that loves to gather for a reunion each summer

swimming in the St. Maries river

the little boys becoming canoe-competent

Mimi’s in-laws and time spent with them during their visit from Texas – we love them

the team of people who care for our children from “hard places”

a quick, safe trip to Seattle for Isaiah

Ladybug who cleaned the house for me while I was in Seattle

Russ’ work, even when it is going to keep him from leaving for Whidbey Island when the kids and I do

the hospitality of our dear, joyful friend who invites us to her home

What are you thankful for today?

Happy Tuesday, friends.

Let me introduce myself. Russ and I are the parents of twelve children by birth and adoption, and sometimes more through foster care. I'm the creator of One Thankful Mom which has been as much of a gift to me as to my readers. In 2011 I became a TBRI® Pracitioner* and have lived and breathed connected parenting ever since. I'm deeply honored to be the co-author, together with the late Dr. Karyn Purvis, of The Connected Parent; it is her final written work. I love speaking at events for adoptive and foster parents. I'm also the co-founder of The Adoption Connection, a podcast and resource site for adoptive moms. I mentor and encourage adoptive moms so you can find courage and hope in your journeys of loving your children well.

For a night of uninterrupted sleep, a new fresh day, grace, strength for my girl when their are hard choices, the excitement my little one has about camping, my teen boy's dedication to stay on track, best friends who's insight is extremely valuable, clean floors, ice cream, salt and vinegar chips, that the nausea is a bit better, my hard working hubby, lamby's determination to move, a very productive day and the promise of His plan
