What a Monday!

Usually I do my best to have a blog post up early Monday morning. Today, it just wasn’t happening. We are in the thick of helping Ladybug push through  the end of her big Share Thanksgiving project and we needed to sit down and organize the next few days.

The food drives are complete, with over 3,000  pounds of food donated to local food pantries. She even organized a very successful competition between two local high schools.

Today she is picking up donations from Safeway and finding a few more volunteers to cook turkeys. Tomorrow we’ll head to Costco for last minute things – like 800 pats of butter and 16 cans of whipped cream.

Wednesday evening we’re serving a traditional Thanksgiving dinner to 250 people. Thankfully, Ladybug has organized a crew of volunteers to help. She also has 50 homemade pies being delivered by people who have volunteered to bake.

The project is not finished yet, but I can safely say that Share Thanksgiving has been a faith building,  formative experience. Ladybug is not one to do anything small – she’s a “the bigger the better” kind of girl, and we love her for it.

Let me introduce myself. Russ and I are the parents of twelve children by birth and adoption, and sometimes more through foster care. I'm the creator of One Thankful Mom which has been as much of a gift to me as to my readers. In 2011 I became a TBRI® Pracitioner* and have lived and breathed connected parenting ever since. I'm deeply honored to be the co-author, together with the late Dr. Karyn Purvis, of The Connected Parent; it is her final written work. I love speaking at events for adoptive and foster parents. I'm also the co-founder of The Adoption Connection, a podcast and resource site for adoptive moms. I mentor and encourage adoptive moms so you can find courage and hope in your journeys of loving your children well.
