Welcome!

Sunset-Barn

Welcome to my new website!

I have that nervous, excited feeling of inviting friends over to my new house.  I know I love it…but what will my friends think?  Will they like it?  Will they tell me the truth?

This change has been coming for a number of months.  Rusty, and our friend Nathan, have spent hours getting it ready to go. I kept adding to their “To Do” list with questions like, “We can get rid of that Comment Count, can’t we?” or “I don’t like that color, can you change it?” and even “Can we have drop-down menus, PLEASE?”

There is still lots of work to be done, but at some point, I had to stop posting on my old blog and start posting here.  We are still working on it, and will be making lots of changes over the next week.  All of the old posts and your wonderful comments have been pulled over and I’m busy organizing them into new categories with new tags.  I hope you find it easy to navigate.  I will be adding more pages, including a great Resource section.  I hope you will email suggested resources to me – instructions are on the page.

In About Me you will find an FAQ section that I hope will be helpful.  If you have questions you would like to see included, feel free to email me.

Most of all, I hope you will enjoy my new site and come back often to see it develop.

Honeybee’s trip was fantastic and I look forward to sharing pictures over the next week.

Thank you everyone!

~Lisa

Let me introduce myself. Russ and I are the parents of twelve children by birth and adoption, and sometimes more through foster care. I'm the creator of One Thankful Mom which has been as much of a gift to me as to my readers. In 2011 I became a TBRI® Pracitioner* and have lived and breathed connected parenting ever since. I'm deeply honored to be the co-author, together with the late Dr. Karyn Purvis, of The Connected Parent; it is her final written work. I love speaking at events for adoptive and foster parents. I'm also the co-founder of The Adoption Connection, a podcast and resource site for adoptive moms. I mentor and encourage adoptive moms so you can find courage and hope in your journeys of loving your children well.

Ha, when I told my mom that we wanted to use the "intense debate" comment system, the name definitely through her for a loop. I managed to convince her that the power was a good trade-off for the name. 😀

Thank you Jen. It has been a crazy amount of work, but I am excited about it. There are quite a few things to figure out…but I am really happy with it.

      Ann,

When you write a book I will be first in line to buy it. Your post on grief was amazing.

I do like the new format. I have been reading your blog for about two years now and have learned so much from you and your blog friends. The one part I miss from your old blog is the list of blogs you follow along the side. I usually go to your blog first and then to some of my other favorites that I hop to from your site. Will you be adding that as a feature? Thanks so much for sharing your wisdom and life lessons learned with us. I have referred so many people to your blog who are considering adoption. Your site is informative, encouraging and full of godly wisdom. Blessings to you and your dear family.

    Your sister in Christ,
    Virginia

      Hi Virginia,

Thank you for your feedback about the new blog. My sister said the exact same thing! In fact, the morning after we launched the new blog, I panicked thinking I had lost my list of favorite blogs. I've asked Rusty and Nathan to look for a way to keep this feature while still keeping the blog clean and uncluttered. We'll see what they come up with. In the meantime, you can still find links to my favorite blogs in the Resources.

I appreciate you sharing my blog with other families!

    Hi, Lisa!
The new place looks great! I have you on my blogroll, and couldn't believe that you really hadn't posted anything in so many days…I'm glad I finally clicked over to see if the new post title update on my blogroll just wasn't working!

I have to spend more time looking around, but I especially love the topic menu across the top. One thing I dislike about this blog format (similar to Kari G.'s), is that you have to click to read the whole post, because I ALWAYS want to read the whole post, and I'm afraid I'm missing something in one of the other categories! 🙂

Keep up the good work…off to explore some more!
