Update

Russ and Lisa came home from the hospital on Sunday night. Lisa is experiencing some pain and mobility issues as she recovers from a fractured hip and temporary nerve damage in her right arm and hand. Hannah flew in from Minneapolis on Sunday morning and the family is now together.

A memorial service for Kalkidan “Dimples” Qualls will be held at the Moscow Church of the Nazarene on Friday, January 2nd, 2015 at 6 p.m. in Moscow, Idaho. All are welcome.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a gift to the Kalkidan Memorial Fund for REACH Ministries. REACH Camp was very special to Kalkidan and her family. You can also contribute to GoFundMe.com/loveforthequalls, which has been established to purchase a safe, new vehicle for the Qualls family.

Let me introduce myself. Russ and I are the parents of twelve children by birth and adoption, and sometimes more through foster care. I'm the creator of One Thankful Mom which has been as much of a gift to me as to my readers. In 2011 I became a TBRI¬ģ Pracitioner* and have lived and breathed connected parenting ever since. I'm deeply honored to be the co-author, together with the late Dr. Karyn Purvis, of The Connected Parent; it is her final written work. I love speaking at events for adoptive and foster parents. I'm also the co-founder of The Adoption Connection, a podcast and resource site for adoptive moms. I mentor and encourage adoptive moms so you can find courage and hope in your journeys of loving your children well.

Wanted to give you a hug last night at Kalkidan's service. 9 months pregnant and the line didn't go together, but wanted you to know how beautiful and touching the celebration was. Very encouraged in my faith and family, Lisa! Your entire family is a beautiful model of God's amazing love, forgiveness, supernatural power, sovereignty, and grace… Love you all and hoping I can come to visit after this little baby gets here.
