Update on K.

The sweetest face! K. loves her new school books! She has already completed three months worth of work in her kindergarten math book – it’s a good thing I ordered her 1st grade book at the same time.

She began playing with the dollhouse within ten minutes of arriving home.

K. and I. with the very cool Jeep.

Sisters all tucked in for the night (bunks with a trundle). K. loves having her own fleece blanket. The expression on her face when she saw the bookcase loaded with books was priceless!

K. is doing great. She is very high energy! She is learning the family routines and has been very good about trying new foods. She is learning to unload the dishwasher and help with other chores. She took every piece of clothing out of her dresser, refolded it, and put it all back.

Things K. loves:

1. books
2. Duplos
3. the Ahmaric CD that Em made for her
4. Uno
5. riding scooters around the house with C.
6. feeding cows and riding on the four-wheeler with Daddy
7. ice cream
8. PIZZA – When an Ethiopian man asked her if she missed any foods from Ethiopia, she shook her head. Then he said, “Injera?” and she shook her head. He asked her about a few more things, then she said, “Pizza!”
9. writing her letters and numbers in notebooks
10. her math workbook
11. taking a bath
12. jumping on the trampoline
13. watching the slideshow screensaver on my computer and calling out the names of her friends (from her orphanage) and family
14. granola
15. riding on her brothers’ shoulders

More soon.

Let me introduce myself. Russ and I are the parents of twelve children by birth and adoption, and sometimes more through foster care. I'm the creator of One Thankful Mom which has been as much of a gift to me as to my readers. In 2011 I became a TBRI® Pracitioner* and have lived and breathed connected parenting ever since. I'm deeply honored to be the co-author, together with the late Dr. Karyn Purvis, of The Connected Parent; it is her final written work. I love speaking at events for adoptive and foster parents. I'm also the co-founder of The Adoption Connection, a podcast and resource site for adoptive moms. I mentor and encourage adoptive moms so you can find courage and hope in your journeys of loving your children well.

What a perfect plan God has for us! I am so glad she is “adjusting” fairly well. Remember we are here if you need us! Love, Sandra
