They Keep Us Laughing

Homeschooling fun! Boo and Dimples planted an amaryllis and watched it grow taller each day.

Here are a few things that I’ve heard at my house recently:

“I can reach if I stand on my tall-y toes.” – Dimples

“I know one of God’s ten commandments, no throwing fits.” – Boo

“I love you as much as ten groups of elves.” – Boo

“Oh man, oh man” when his sock was falling off. – Eby

“Because?” when she means “why?” – Dimples

I really should write things down when the kids say them, but of course, I think I will remember them later. Honestly, these days I don’t remember much of anything if I don’t write it down. My brain is overloaded!

We have had a very full weekend including: a Robotics competition 300 miles away, an all-day chamber orchestra workshop, the SAT, and travel home from NYC. To add to the fun, while Russ was gone at the Robotics competition a toilet overflowed, the dishwasher leaked all over the kitchen, our internet service went down, my computer was having issues, and we were snowed in because we couldn’t plow our driveway.

I can hardly wait for a new week to begin!

Let me introduce myself. Russ and I are the parents of twelve children by birth and adoption, and sometimes more through foster care. I'm the creator of One Thankful Mom which has been as much of a gift to me as to my readers. In 2011 I became a TBRI® Pracitioner* and have lived and breathed connected parenting ever since. I'm deeply honored to be the co-author, together with the late Dr. Karyn Purvis, of The Connected Parent; it is her final written work. I love speaking at events for adoptive and foster parents. I'm also the co-founder of The Adoption Connection, a podcast and resource site for adoptive moms. I mentor and encourage adoptive moms so you can find courage and hope in your journeys of loving your children well.

Hi there, I am so excited to find your blog. I was a reader a while back but our hard-drive crashed, and I lost my list of favourites. I found you as a link on another blog. I am looking forward to reading back and hearing your story-when I last read, you were just finding out you would be adopting three little ones! I see from what I have read that all is well! congratulations and praise the Lord for your beautiful family. I apologize for rambling on-just another homeschooling mommy, hoping soon to adopt from Ethiopia, too. Darci 🙂

Sounds like you had a busy and adventurous week…but then when isn’t it a busy week, really? 🙂
Your kids’ quotes are so cute! I have been doing those on my blog as well…kids say the funniest things!
