giving thanks #1251 – 1260

a quiet morning with my sick Little Man

tylenol

movies, lots of movies

yoga pants and a comfy sweater

coffee with friends on saturday morning

youth ministry volunteers (I should say this every week)

the book of Nehemiah

the view of clouds and hail from the top of our hill

skype with dimples

sisters doing hair and dressing up for a special church event

In the spirit of honesty, it is not easy for me to come up with ten things this morning. This hasn’t been our best week, sleep is fleeting, and a sick little boy waking me early this morning (when I had just fallen back to sleep) was not the best way to start the day. But God is good and I am deeply blessed.

Tell me one thing you are thankful for today.

Let me introduce myself. Russ and I are the parents of twelve children by birth and adoption, and sometimes more through foster care. I'm the creator of One Thankful Mom which has been as much of a gift to me as to my readers. In 2011 I became a TBRI® Pracitioner* and have lived and breathed connected parenting ever since. I'm deeply honored to be the co-author, together with the late Dr. Karyn Purvis, of The Connected Parent; it is her final written work. I love speaking at events for adoptive and foster parents. I'm also the co-founder of The Adoption Connection, a podcast and resource site for adoptive moms. I mentor and encourage adoptive moms so you can find courage and hope in your journeys of loving your children well.

I am thankful for people who will be " real" and share their deepest selves with others in order to give comfort to those who are struggling

A great weekend with Madeleine home for a visit, curling on the t v even if we do not understand the strategy or scoring, the power staying on in a wind storm, a wonderful conversation with my future daughter in law, and you having the time to call and chat an entire conversation on Friday!

I am thankful for a wonderful husband who surprises me with hot cocoa when I need a bit of a pick me up. 🙂

I hope that your sick Little Man becomes healthy Little Man this week!

Thankful for my sweet newborn baby boy. And the beautiful quiet of all my kids asleep at the same time.
