giving thanks #1511 – 1520

a Saturday that stretched before us – no travel, meetings, or appointments

warm weather while we worked in the yard

Russ’ happiness at a day spent outdoors

kids cheerfully (for the most part) working with usa new chore chart (that I finally created) which should make mornings easier

family dinner today, and gathering around the table

apple crisp

being able to attend my nephew’s wedding in Virginia next weekend

time I’ll get to spend with my parents, sisters, Hannah and Mimi, and the rest of the family

Russ – who encouraged me to go; he is so good to me

I have a turkey breast roasting, potatoes waiting to be mashed, apple crisp being prepared, and on top of it all, the sun is shining again today. This has been a beautiful October, which isn’t always the case in north Idaho. After dinner the older boys are going to help Russ take the patio lights from the wedding down and pack them away; they wouldn’t  survive a winter in our backyard.

I hope you have a wonderful Sunday, friends. If possible, grab a little rest – take a sabbath.

What are you thankful for today?

Lisa

Let me introduce myself. Russ and I are the parents of twelve children by birth and adoption, and sometimes more through foster care. I'm the creator of One Thankful Mom which has been as much of a gift to me as to my readers. In 2011 I became a TBRI® Pracitioner* and have lived and breathed connected parenting ever since. I'm deeply honored to be the co-author, together with the late Dr. Karyn Purvis, of The Connected Parent; it is her final written work. I love speaking at events for adoptive and foster parents. I'm also the co-founder of The Adoption Connection, a podcast and resource site for adoptive moms. I mentor and encourage adoptive moms so you can find courage and hope in your journeys of loving your children well.

Well it's Monday here, but I got to go line dancing both Saturday and Sunday. Awesome time catching up with people and meeting a few new ones (Saturday was 2 1/2 hr drive from home).
Yesterday I spent an hour or so catching up with a friend who lost her husband a couple of weeks ago.
My autistic son (14) did lots of the washing for me while I was out!
We can video stuff on tv, so when I fall asleep watching it I can catch the end another time lol.

Thankful my girl is in a good place, getting the help she needs. Thankful for God's provision every step thus far.

So thankful that you and Dad and Mom, Elizabeth, Hannah, and Mimi are coming to Drew and Meagan's wedding. It's like a destination sisters weekend! Can't believe it is finally here and we will all be together celebrating love, family, and marriage!
