Sunday Gratitude 1.3.16

Processed with VSCOcam with b1 preset

It seems fitting to write about gratitude on the first Sunday of 2016, and on my first day blogging after a little break. I have so much to be thankful for today.

giving thanks #1721 – 1740

a nearly perfect Christmas tree cut from our own little tree farm

lots of candles lit each evening

all of our kids home for Christmas

favorite foods: Snowflake Sundaes for breakfast, Santa Fe Breakfast Casserole, Cinnamon Pull-apart, Creamy Sausage Stew, Mexican Wedding Cakes, Chocolate Cheesecake, Scandinavian Almond bars, and so many others

morning coffee in our pajamas

a white Christmas and beautiful snow every day

sledding in the pasture

walks up the gravel road amidst rolling hills covered with snow

fitbits from the kids – 10,000+ steps our first few days (I’m secretly competing with Russ)

family game nights filled with laughter

making it through the one year anniversary of our accident and Kalkidan going to heaven

tears, prayers, and sweet memories

Claire turning 13 – only two more left to become teens, so bittersweet

new year’s eve with the family

toasts all round and sparklers at midnight

saying goodbye to a hard year and hello to 2016

sad farewells that bring a few tears, but also make me thankful to have kids I love and enjoy so much

my mom’s 76th birthday today – happy birthday, Mom!

Normal life resumes on Tuesday when the kids head back to school. I have a number of goals for 2016, some that require organizing, planning and scheduling, and others that are more flexible. I’m making lists, praying, and thinking.

How was your Christmas? Any big hopes/plans for 2016? Take a moment to say hello, I would love to hear from you – truly.

Much love and heartfelt hope for a gentle year filled with mercy and answered prayers.

Lisa

Let me introduce myself. Russ and I are the parents of twelve children by birth and adoption, and sometimes more through foster care. I'm the creator of One Thankful Mom which has been as much of a gift to me as to my readers. In 2011 I became a TBRI® Pracitioner* and have lived and breathed connected parenting ever since. I'm deeply honored to be the co-author, together with the late Dr. Karyn Purvis, of The Connected Parent; it is her final written work. I love speaking at events for adoptive and foster parents. I'm also the co-founder of The Adoption Connection, a podcast and resource site for adoptive moms. I mentor and encourage adoptive moms so you can find courage and hope in your journeys of loving your children well.
