Sunday Gratitude 1.25.15

Lord, We fall to our knees before the Wounded Healer
who cups His hands to catch every falling tear & sparrow & heart
in His palms that have our names engraved right into Him
far deeper than any of earth’s sorrow.
We pray tonight in the name of Him of who catches everything falling
so we don’t fall apart…so we are held. Amen. [Ann Voskamp]

giving thanks #1571 – 1580

my sister, Laura, who spent a week caring for us

my physical therapist who is helping my body heal

friends who cook for us

and clean our bathrooms

Isaiah here tonight – when the house feels too empty and quiet

Russ holding me close while I cry

Sunshine’s therapy guinea pig, affectionately known as the “pig in a blanket”

the puffy down vest that I want to wear every day

soft pants – only soft pants

the rice sack that is reheated multiple times each day then slung around my neck and shoulder

Oh friends, Saturday was a hard day. I’m praying that today will be better.

Love to all of you,

Lisa

Let me introduce myself. Russ and I are the parents of twelve children by birth and adoption, and sometimes more through foster care. I'm the creator of One Thankful Mom which has been as much of a gift to me as to my readers. In 2011 I became a TBRI® Pracitioner* and have lived and breathed connected parenting ever since. I'm deeply honored to be the co-author, together with the late Dr. Karyn Purvis, of The Connected Parent; it is her final written work. I love speaking at events for adoptive and foster parents. I'm also the co-founder of The Adoption Connection, a podcast and resource site for adoptive moms. I mentor and encourage adoptive moms so you can find courage and hope in your journeys of loving your children well.

    I don't know how you're doing it. Except that time passes and there is no stopping that. My heart breaks for you. Prayers that you feel His arms and love wrapped around you. ~nancy

    I am so sorry for the pain you are suffering. I pray for your heart to heal. All your other children need you. One day, one step at a time you will make it through this time. Take care.

    I've been praying for your family Is. 41:10:

    Fear not, for I am with you;
    be not dismayed, for I am your God;
    I will strengthen you, I will help you,
    I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
    (Isaiah 41:10 ESV)

    May He surround you continually.

    I have always felt like you fiercely loved Dimples which is why you wouldn't quit on her even when things were really hard. May that same fierceness help you grieve because in so many ways grief is about being fierce. He is still near.
