Smooth Sailing

I am continually in awe of God’s kindness to us.  This beautiful beach and the home where we are staying are unbelievable — so wonderful that I would not have even dreamed to pray for this.  I find myself feeling very loved by God and humbly thankful.

With the help of friends, Russ got the catamaran out and went sailing last night.  It was fantastic and we look forward to more sailing next week.  The girls have been doing a lot of canoeing in the shallow water.

This morning we are busy packing to move out for the next two nights while a church group is here.  We’re tucking a lot of our stuff into closets and taking only what we need for the weekend — which happens to be a lot.  Thankfully, Sweet Pea is here helping us with the transition.

I need to get busy!  Have a great day, friends.

Let me introduce myself. Russ and I are the parents of twelve children by birth and adoption, and sometimes more through foster care. I'm the creator of One Thankful Mom which has been as much of a gift to me as to my readers. In 2011 I became a TBRI® Pracitioner* and have lived and breathed connected parenting ever since. I'm deeply honored to be the co-author, together with the late Dr. Karyn Purvis, of The Connected Parent; it is her final written work. I love speaking at events for adoptive and foster parents. I'm also the co-founder of The Adoption Connection, a podcast and resource site for adoptive moms. I mentor and encourage adoptive moms so you can find courage and hope in your journeys of loving your children well.

Hi! I found your blog through Staci Hopkins. 🙂 I am a mama to 5 littles and go back and forth on homeschooling vs school and we'd done a tad of each (my oldest is only just about 8). It's a constant struggle for me. So, I hope you don't mind me sticking around, reading what you have written and what you will write. Thank you so much for sharing your journey via a blog for us other moms that need the wisdom of women who have done it before us. Much Love! -January

Hi! I'm an adoptive mom and have been reading your blog for a couple months, and really have been enjoying it. Thank you for all the insight and wisdom you provide. I wanted to let you know you were on my mind first thing this morning, and I'm praying for you and Dimples and the transition to having her at camp for the week. So thankful that we have a God who supplies all our needs, and blesses us abundantly, beyond what we could ask or even think! May He bless you with a lovely day today! ~Anita

Anita, thank you so much for your prayers. Dimples had a rough evening last night and I'm sure it is because transitions are just so hard for her. With moving to a new place and going to camp the same weekend – it's tough. We're hoping to spend the day outside on the beach and I think that may help her move through the hours. I'm glad you found my blog!

I thought of you when I shot it – I'm glad you think I did a good job. I'm sure you could do magic with it in Photoshop. We can't wait for you guys to get here tonight.
