Our Forever Day

Rusty created this wonderful slideshow last year to celebrate our Forever Day, the day we met all four of our new children. It still makes me cry. I hope one day he will create a new slideshow about Honeybee, but until then, we’ll pray that this one inspires and encourages other families.

Thank you for sharing this journey, which is full of blessings, challenges, hope, healing, learning, and growing.

(I just received a comment asking about the music for the slideshow. The song is And Now My Lifesong Sings by Casting Crowns – we love their music.)

Let me introduce myself. Russ and I are the parents of twelve children by birth and adoption, and sometimes more through foster care. I'm the creator of One Thankful Mom which has been as much of a gift to me as to my readers. In 2011 I became a TBRI® Pracitioner* and have lived and breathed connected parenting ever since. I'm deeply honored to be the co-author, together with the late Dr. Karyn Purvis, of The Connected Parent; it is her final written work. I love speaking at events for adoptive and foster parents. I'm also the co-founder of The Adoption Connection, a podcast and resource site for adoptive moms. I mentor and encourage adoptive moms so you can find courage and hope in your journeys of loving your children well.

Tears are pouring down my face right now. I may be a little extra emotional since I know Rick and Sig are spending their first day with Nezzy…Ahhh…such a cool slide show. Thanks for sharing it again!

It makes me cry, too! Who is the artist, and what is the name of the song?

This was the first adoption video we saw on youtube when God was drawing us towards Ethiopian adoption this fall. I have watched it again a few times and I still sob the whole time!! God is so good! I have been keeping up with your blog and I appreciate it so much. I come from a big family and Lord willing would love to have a big family. My husband also bought us matching Ahope sweatshirts for Christmas! Thank you for all your encouraging words on life, Chirst, adoption, and homeschooling! We are currently ready to send our Dossier to Ethiopia, but still waiting for funds. We hope to adopt two little ones under two years old. Thank you; your blog is a blessing! – Amanda

You don’t know me but I have been following your blog. I found your blog because I was searching for Ethiopia adoptions on youtube. I found this one. It changed my decision watching it. We had been on the minority domestic adoption front for months but it never felt right. So once I cried over this viedo I put it on MY blog and everytime I saw it it reminded me of what I wanted to become. Soon after we switched routes and are trying to adopt from Ethiopia. We are awaiting a referral and should receive a referral in the next few weeks. Your children are amazing!
