One More Time!

K. has another court date this Friday and we hope it is a good one! We won’t hear until next week. We also received her I-171H from USCIS yesterday, which is the Advance Processing of Orphan Petition. It often doesn’t feel like we are making progress, but little by little, things are moving along.

We got some new photos of E. and he looks so sweet. He has absolutely kissable cheeks and I can’t wait to have him in my arms.

I am putting a small package together for the boys that my friend Joy is going to take to them when she travels to get her girls. I have a blanket for each of them that I am having monogrammed with their Ethiopian names and I’m putting together a little album for E. I think I’ll just send a photo of Russ and me for W. I also plan to send a small toy for each of them.

…and just in case you are wondering, the picture was taken during C.’s preschool time. We were doing her alphabet puzzle and finding words for each letter when we got on the theme of names. These letters are the first letters in each of my children’s names. I have to admit, when I saw that long line of letters I thought to myself, “Wow, I have a lot of children!”

I hope to have good news to share soon.

Let me introduce myself. Russ and I are the parents of twelve children by birth and adoption, and sometimes more through foster care. I'm the creator of One Thankful Mom which has been as much of a gift to me as to my readers. In 2011 I became a TBRI® Pracitioner* and have lived and breathed connected parenting ever since. I'm deeply honored to be the co-author, together with the late Dr. Karyn Purvis, of The Connected Parent; it is her final written work. I love speaking at events for adoptive and foster parents. I'm also the co-founder of The Adoption Connection, a podcast and resource site for adoptive moms. I mentor and encourage adoptive moms so you can find courage and hope in your journeys of loving your children well.
