New York City

My oldest daughter, Sweet Pea (I know, we need to come up with a more mature nickname), is in NYC with my Mom. She had an interview there and knowing how much her Gramma loves to travel, she asked her to join her on the trip.

The interviews, on Thursday, went fabulously. From then on they have led the fun life of tourists. They went to a Broadway show Thursday night, spent most of today at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, ate in fantastic restaurants, and ended the day by meeting my cousin for dinner. He even helped them brave the subway.

Tomorrow they head back to the west coast and Sweet Pea will arrive home very late Sunday night. I’ll post a couple of pictures of them once they are home.

I had to share this funny photo of Sweet Pea with a drawing made for her by Dimples. Dimples is a very prolific artist and once she mastered the handprint turkey, it became one of her masterpieces. She also loves to copy anything that she finds somebody writing, and apparently on the day she created this, it was “alignment”.

Let me introduce myself. Russ and I are the parents of twelve children by birth and adoption, and sometimes more through foster care. I'm the creator of One Thankful Mom which has been as much of a gift to me as to my readers. In 2011 I became a TBRI® Pracitioner* and have lived and breathed connected parenting ever since. I'm deeply honored to be the co-author, together with the late Dr. Karyn Purvis, of The Connected Parent; it is her final written work. I love speaking at events for adoptive and foster parents. I'm also the co-founder of The Adoption Connection, a podcast and resource site for adoptive moms. I mentor and encourage adoptive moms so you can find courage and hope in your journeys of loving your children well.

    She’s lovely.
I had to LOL about ‘alignment’. I teach 3rd and 4th grade and have a couple of kids who love to open the dictionary and write stories using new words….their interpreted meaning is sometimes hysterical.

I am so glad Mom and H are having fun together. Mom is always up for a trip any where and any time! Love the turkey picture!
