More Progress

Today our dossier arrived at AAI – I love FedEx! In addition, our homestudy was reviewed and approved by our AAI caseworker, so now it will be printed, signed, notarized, and a copy will be sent FedEx (of course) to AAI. Another copy will be sent to us overnight with the rest to follow in the mail. If all goes as we hope, we should receive a copy in time for our trip to USCIS. I still can’t believe how smoothly this is coming together.

If you are beginning the adoption process and you like to do things as quickly as possible, I recommend setting up a FedEx account. You get a slight discount on shipping, but in addition, you can ask your agencies to ship documents FedEx for you and simply give them your account number. It makes it easy for them even if they normally ship packages via USPS.

If you have a moment, please read this touching post, “I Don’t Have a Family” written by a friend of ours who is in Addis right now. It might give you an even clearer idea of why we are adding B. to our family.

Back to work! Adoption training DVD’s await.

Let me introduce myself. Russ and I are the parents of twelve children by birth and adoption, and sometimes more through foster care. I'm the creator of One Thankful Mom which has been as much of a gift to me as to my readers. In 2011 I became a TBRI® Pracitioner* and have lived and breathed connected parenting ever since. I'm deeply honored to be the co-author, together with the late Dr. Karyn Purvis, of The Connected Parent; it is her final written work. I love speaking at events for adoptive and foster parents. I'm also the co-founder of The Adoption Connection, a podcast and resource site for adoptive moms. I mentor and encourage adoptive moms so you can find courage and hope in your journeys of loving your children well.

I thought I was the only one who had such happy feelings about FedEx: the deliverer of paperwork and bringer of children’s pictures. Congruatulations on finishing up the paperwork.

Yay for Fed-ex! I am glad I already have an account with them, I am sure it will make things easier.

I am so glad the dossier is done and has been received. 🙂 Are you going to USCIS directly? Can you email me and tell me about this because I would love to get that aspect done as quickly as possible!
