More Fabulous Curls

Honeybee with big curls last week

Honeybee’s curls eight months ago

A friend commented (on the post about Dimples’ hair) that she loved the way Honeybee wore her hair in a dance recital last week. It was big, curly, and beautiful. I liked it too.

I tried to find a good picture to show how fabulous Honeybee’s hair was that day, but didn’t have one that did it justice. However, I love the picture of her with the floral crown – her curls are incredible. Today she pulled her hair up into one big puff and it looks great.

You can also see that she is losing a bit of her baby roundness and is looking more grown up. How can it happen so quickly? She gets more beautiful by the day.

And lest I get my hopes up too soon, I’m only going to whisper this…..does it look like I may actually have one child who isn’t going to need braces????

I completely hear you on that! I have 8 kids and after putting braces on both of my older daughters this past year and realizing (due to our dentists charming enlightenment)that my other two girls and boy will definitely be needing them as well. I find myself looking suspiciously at my little 2 year old and thinking Hmmm will you be joining the only remaining 2 sibs in the no braces group???

Exquisite curls and a beautiful girls! Since we’re talking hair, what are your favorite conditioners for Dimple’s and Honeybee’s hair? As I am waiting for my girls I am collecting different kinds to try out on them.
    Thank you!

Your girls are just beautiful. The floral band is darling on Honeybee. I’m anxiously waiting for the day when my new girls have some hair to do somewith with. They kept their heads shaved at the orphanage, so it will be a while still. 🙂 Becky

Her hair is so BEAUTIFUL. An African lady at church said it is so nice to see more African women embracing the beauty of their natural hair (instead of straightening, etc.)
And, I also thought how she is already looking so much older…

Jennifer, I have tried a number of different products with varying success and I am still finding my way. One of the best things I’ve learned is not to use shampoo on my girls, or only use it rarely. We wash with conditioner and only once a week at most.

Anonymous (I wish I knew who you were to thank you!), I jumped over to Amazon and just read some reviews of Curly Girl. I am going to order it right away; it sounds like just what I need. I have no desire to use chemicals on my daughters’ hair and I love their curls. I want them to love them too and this book might help me teach them to take even better care of their hair. Thank you.

LOVE the pics of the girls and their curls! For the first time in a really long time I let Y wear her hair down yesterday; it was so fun to see her curls bobbing as she ran around…yet I spent the whole day wondering what terror I would see come the days’ end. (It wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be-whew!)

What is Dimples’ hair like when it is wet?
