May I Ask a Favor?

My morning started with an early meeting with Bee’s teacher. She has made such amazing progress with her education, and we’re hoping to fill in some language gaps this year. We’re getting a good plan in place. I hope to continue sharing about our time with Dimples tomorrow.

At the moment I’m sandwiched between Eby and Little Man at the kitchen island as they do math. Every few seconds I pause in my typing to answer a question as they work their way through the lesson. In the meantime, I have a favor to ask of you, friends.

As you can imagine, blogging takes time. As you also can imagine, our children from “hard places” have significant needs that are costly to meet.  Russ carries a heavy load providing for our family, and I would like to help just a little bit by earning some income myself.

Over the last year you may have noticed more ads and reviews on my blog. Although they may not add to my content, I hope you will tolerate them. I am trying to only accept opportunities that provide a giveaway for you; there is a really fun one coming up soon.

Here are a few things you can do to help if you like:

1. Please “Like” my One Thankful Mom Facebook page. Advertisers and publishers care about numbers.

2. Follow me on Twitter. For the most part, my tweets are links to my blog posts, so there are very few. Since I use Twitter so little, I don’t have many followers, and once again, numbers matter.

3. Use the Amazon link in my sidebar when you shop on Amazon. When you go to Amazon through that link (or any other Amazon link I may have on an individual post), I am paid a small percentage of your purchase. It doesn’t matter what you buy, and it doesn’t increase your cost or change your order in any way.

4. Follow me on Pinterest. I’m just getting started with Pinterest and it’s fun. I have a lot to learn about how to use it well!

Thanks so much for your kindness and support. I appreciate you all.

Lisa

Let me introduce myself. Russ and I are the parents of twelve children by birth and adoption, and sometimes more through foster care. I'm the creator of One Thankful Mom which has been as much of a gift to me as to my readers. In 2011 I became a TBRI® Pracitioner* and have lived and breathed connected parenting ever since. I'm deeply honored to be the co-author, together with the late Dr. Karyn Purvis, of The Connected Parent; it is her final written work. I love speaking at events for adoptive and foster parents. I'm also the co-founder of The Adoption Connection, a podcast and resource site for adoptive moms. I mentor and encourage adoptive moms so you can find courage and hope in your journeys of loving your children well.

Hi! Just a question: if I buy something from amazon.uk getting there through amazon.com, do you still earn something? I live in Europe, so…

That's a really good question, Joana. I think I still get credit for the purchase. Thanks so much.

I’ll try to remember about Amazon as I order from them on a regular basis. I don’t do Pinterest. I am trying to keep myself from one more possible obsession! 🙂

No problem! I found my twitter account info. It is under my business address. I may change it later. I also had a book I have been putting off buying so I picked that up just now on your amazon link. I will make sure to remember to use it every time I buy on Amazon. Too bad I don’t need school books for a while that usually runs me about $400 🙂 Next semester for sure!
