The past two days have been full and our hearts are thankful. We are celebrating:

300 people fed at Ladybug’s Share Thanksgiving dinner wednesday night

delicious food – deep fried turkeys, homemade mashed potatoes, homemade pies, lots of whipped cream…

nearly 100 meals sent home in to-go boxes

head cooks who took over at the last minute

so many volunteers that we couldn’t put them all to work – which was a glitch on our part, but such a blessing that so many people wanted to serve

lessons learned (we needed a volunteer coordinator!)

a lovely venue

tablecloths and cloth napkins

white lights

shuttles that picked people up and returned them home

so many smiling faces

full stomachs

full hearts

Ladybug, who received this challenge last summer when she was 14 years old; she rallied the help of many people, raised the needed funds, and coordinated the event

thousands of pounds of food donated through food drives

a surprise visit and award from the county commissioners

well over 500 families were fed Thanksgiving dinner through her project – more accurate numbers still to come

thank you to everyone who donated funds, time, food, talent

to God be the glory, great things he has done

Let me introduce myself. Russ and I are the parents of twelve children by birth and adoption, and sometimes more through foster care. I'm the creator of One Thankful Mom which has been as much of a gift to me as to my readers. In 2011 I became a TBRI® Pracitioner* and have lived and breathed connected parenting ever since. I'm deeply honored to be the co-author, together with the late Dr. Karyn Purvis, of The Connected Parent; it is her final written work. I love speaking at events for adoptive and foster parents. I'm also the co-founder of The Adoption Connection, a podcast and resource site for adoptive moms. I mentor and encourage adoptive moms so you can find courage and hope in your journeys of loving your children well.

We missed you too. The aprons from Bolivia were well used at the dinner – and looked very nice!
