Graduation Weekend

It was a wonderful weekend celebrating Sweet Pea’s graduation from college and N.’s graduation from homeschool high school. Russ and Sweet Pea had to be on campus at 8:00 to line up for the procession. It was very special for Russ to see his first child graduate from the university where he is a professor – hence the red robe and cap.

My parents, Mimi, and I enjoyed the ceremony, despite how long it was! We arrived home at 2:00, just in time to get ready for N’s graduation and the joint party. N. didn’t want a big ceremony, but opted to receive his diploma at the party. He did make his mother happy by wearing his cap and gown for photos.

It was a great day!

We have another big week, so I may not blog much, if at all, but I’ll be back!

Let me introduce myself. Russ and I are the parents of twelve children by birth and adoption, and sometimes more through foster care. I'm the creator of One Thankful Mom which has been as much of a gift to me as to my readers. In 2011 I became a TBRI® Pracitioner* and have lived and breathed connected parenting ever since. I'm deeply honored to be the co-author, together with the late Dr. Karyn Purvis, of The Connected Parent; it is her final written work. I love speaking at events for adoptive and foster parents. I'm also the co-founder of The Adoption Connection, a podcast and resource site for adoptive moms. I mentor and encourage adoptive moms so you can find courage and hope in your journeys of loving your children well.

Wow!!!! What proud parents you must be. I’m 5 years away from our first high school grad and I’m in tears just looking at your photos and know how hard it must be and at the same time to see how much they’ve grown in sooooo many ways and how wonderfully you’ve given them wings to fly because you gave them great Roots to begin with! So excited about all that is going on with your family!!! I can’t wait to meet you some day, Lisa! You are such a beautiful women, inside and out and an amazing Mother! I wish I live close by – I’d love a closer friendship! – Chris
