Goodbye March Mud?

This is how Eby greeted me on Monday after he had played outside. Not only was he covered with mud, he somehow managed to put splatters and smears of mud all over the front porch. I gave him a bucket of warm water and some cleaning rags and put him to work. When he was finally done, he came inside wearing completely soaked clothes. He told me that to keep warm, he stood in the bucket of warm water while he worked. I couldn’t help laughing.

Sadly, that was the beginning of a very long, messy day during which I was forced to put lots of effort into having self-control. It did not come easy to me.

I seriously hope that the weather is going to improve soon and the mud will begin to dry up. However, since we had three inches of spring snow today, it’s not looking good.

By the way, I had an opportunity to be part of this Hostess Twinkie advertising campaign, and it was too good to pass up. Generally I keep all advertising to a minimum, but I thought I would give this particular one a try. The small amount of money I make with my blog is a true blessing to my family, and with eleven of us at home, every bit helps.

Have a great Thursday, friends.

I have had a long, messy morning today, so I know how you feel. I did not display much self-control and I'm hoping to turn it around this afternoon. Bt the way, I may have to try some of those Twinkies!

You may have felt like it was a long messy day, but you handled it with grace—I was there the whole day taking care of Caleb. Thanks for letting us stay.

Oh mud. In these parts we had a very muddy winter which is not usual. And now Spring = mud. Two of mine go to a nature preschool and the amount of mud is stunning. 3-4 times a week for the past few months we've hosed down their outdoor clothes, snow pants, winter coats, winter mittens, winter boots (!!!) before we wash them. M's rain boots are right now covered with mud inside and out, as if he painted them carefully.

I am constantly catching myself from remarking about laundry… kids love mud. It's therapeutic. Can't keep them out.
