Good in the Midst of Hard

Russ and I weren’t able to travel to Montana, but we still managed to get away. We hated to let all of the good childcare and preparation go to waste! Our dear friends offered us their house on Lake Coeur d’Alene, and it is beautiful.

The sad part of the weekend is not visiting Dimples, but we were able to have a long Skype session with her and her therapist. She was able to talk about some big feelings, and I think we did a good job supporting her.

I had more labs on Thursday, and see the hematologist on Tuesday. The shots continue and sometimes they are tough, but I remind myself that I am only doing a grand total of fourteen. No whining allowed.

The weather here is dramatic, which is wonderful when you are tucked in a lovely home with huge windows to watch the show.  Yesterday we had blowing snow followed 20 minutes later by calm water and lovely sunlight.

quiet, so quiet

long talks with Russ

What does your weekend hold? What are you thankful for?

Let me introduce myself. Russ and I are the parents of twelve children by birth and adoption, and sometimes more through foster care. I'm the creator of One Thankful Mom which has been as much of a gift to me as to my readers. In 2011 I became a TBRI® Pracitioner* and have lived and breathed connected parenting ever since. I'm deeply honored to be the co-author, together with the late Dr. Karyn Purvis, of The Connected Parent; it is her final written work. I love speaking at events for adoptive and foster parents. I'm also the co-founder of The Adoption Connection, a podcast and resource site for adoptive moms. I mentor and encourage adoptive moms so you can find courage and hope in your journeys of loving your children well.

I love you friend. I am here with B and Sunshine and we are about to start watching What a Girl Wants!

Also, Little Man to me as I walked into the living room: "C'mere, buddy! Oh, you're my buddy."
