Finally Heading Home

I’m finally on my way home today. I stayed behind in the Seattle area to spend time with Isaiah, and ended up staying longer than I expected. I only have Eby and Little Man with me and I’m driving a 15 passenger van – just a little overkill. It’s packed with bikes and boating gear, and has a canoe loaded on top. I’m hoping we won’t have any adventures on the drive home.

One of my goals for vacation was to spend lots of time reading. I also had good intentions to read more to my children, including two books I haven’t finished from last school year. As it turned out, our days were filled with people, which was fantastic. As a result, I didn’t read as much as I thought I might, but I still managed to get through four books.

Let me introduce myself. Russ and I are the parents of twelve children by birth and adoption, and sometimes more through foster care. I'm the creator of One Thankful Mom which has been as much of a gift to me as to my readers. In 2011 I became a TBRI® Pracitioner* and have lived and breathed connected parenting ever since. I'm deeply honored to be the co-author, together with the late Dr. Karyn Purvis, of The Connected Parent; it is her final written work. I love speaking at events for adoptive and foster parents. I'm also the co-founder of The Adoption Connection, a podcast and resource site for adoptive moms. I mentor and encourage adoptive moms so you can find courage and hope in your journeys of loving your children well.
