Empowered to Connect and Dr. Karyn Purvis in Denver!

Have you heard the great news? Empowered to Connect is coming to Denver this April!  There aren’t many details yet, but block out the weekend on your calendars.

You all know that Dr. Karyn Purvis is one of my all-time heroes.  I heard her speak at the Orphan Summit last spring and she, of course, was amazing.  I also got to meet Michael and Amy Monroe which was the beginning of my relationship with Empowered to Connect.

If you are starting the adoption process, have children home, provide foster care, think you might ever want to care for children from “hard places”, want to learn about parenting children with trauma histories, want to connect with other families interested in adoption, you really must join us.

The conference is April 8 – 9, 2011 at Bear Valley Church, and I will be there!  It is on my calendar, in my planner, and on Russ’ PDA. The From HIV to Home staff plans to attend too. If you can possibly walk, drive, or fly to Denver, you should be join us.

For those of you closer to Tennessee, there will be a conference September 23 – 24, 2011 in Nashville.  I’ve never been to Nashville, and I rather doubt I’ll make it this year — but I wish I could.

I’ll let you know when I have more information on these conferences.  You won’t want to miss them!

P.S. I got on Amazon to finish up my Christmas shopping this morning and saw that tomorrow is the last day to use Free Super Saver Shipping and get your items by Christmas! I placed my last order this morning and just have a few things left to pick up locally. Whew!

Let me introduce myself. Russ and I are the parents of twelve children by birth and adoption, and sometimes more through foster care. I'm the creator of One Thankful Mom which has been as much of a gift to me as to my readers. In 2011 I became a TBRI® Pracitioner* and have lived and breathed connected parenting ever since. I'm deeply honored to be the co-author, together with the late Dr. Karyn Purvis, of The Connected Parent; it is her final written work. I love speaking at events for adoptive and foster parents. I'm also the co-founder of The Adoption Connection, a podcast and resource site for adoptive moms. I mentor and encourage adoptive moms so you can find courage and hope in your journeys of loving your children well.

We saw her in Nashville last September. It was life changing! No kidding. I'm still listening to the sessions in my car every day in the pick-up line at school. I think she has the best parenting understanding EVER! Just my two cents.

YEA! I am so glad that you let us know. I will be there unless I am in China getting our 2 newest blessings!!! (And the 9th is my birthday…what fun it would be).

Shonni, this would be a great way to celebrate your birthday — although meeting your children in China would be incredible.

Come to Nashville! I'll be there! I missed it this year due to time conflicts, and I'll probably miss the April one (bc getting away means realigning the planets…). But think about Nashville! We could finally have that cup a coffee!
