Empowered to Connect Giveaway and Conference!

In less than one month I am flying to Nashville for the Empowered to Connect Conference!  If you live anywhere near and can possibly attend, please join us.  Karyn Purvis and Michael and Amy Monroe, do a great job presenting material that will help any parent of children from “hard places.”  Having never been to Nashville, it will be an adventure for me, one I had hoped to share with Russ, but it isn’t possible for him to get away this time.

In anticipation of the conference, I am giving away a copy of the Trust-Based Parenting: Creating Lasting Changes in Your Child’s Behavior DVD from Empowered to Connect and Dr. Karyn Purvis. From the ETC website:

The Trust-Based Parenting DVD offers in-depth training for parents of children with trauma-based behavioral issues. The Trust-Based Relational Intervention® (TBRI®) is a unique intervention model created by developmental psychologists Dr. Karyn Purvis and Dr. David Cross, founders of the Institute of Child Development. It is based on more than a decade of research and hands-on work with vulnerable children and their families.

and:

This nearly four-hour video features Drs. Purvis and Cross coaching families through real-life, problem-solving scenarios. They demonstrate proven, practical skills and strategies for applying TBRI principles (Empowering, Connecting and Correcting) to everyday life to build a stronger parent-child connection, which leads to better behavior. Parents from around the world praise TBRI for giving them hope in times of crisis and lifelong solutions that can benefit the entire family.

Each one of the following will give you one chance to win Trust-Based Parenting: Creating Lasting Changes in Your Child’s Behavior .

  • Leave me a comment!  Anything will do, but I would love to know what your favorite resource on the Empowered to Connect website is. If you do any of the other things (below), make sure to leave a comment too and let me know so I can add up your chances to win.

Let me introduce myself. Russ and I are the parents of twelve children by birth and adoption, and sometimes more through foster care. I'm the creator of One Thankful Mom which has been as much of a gift to me as to my readers. In 2011 I became a TBRI® Pracitioner* and have lived and breathed connected parenting ever since. I'm deeply honored to be the co-author, together with the late Dr. Karyn Purvis, of The Connected Parent; it is her final written work. I love speaking at events for adoptive and foster parents. I'm also the co-founder of The Adoption Connection, a podcast and resource site for adoptive moms. I mentor and encourage adoptive moms so you can find courage and hope in your journeys of loving your children well.

I stumbled across your blog about a month ago. Wow. What a blessing to read your blog, as your words resonate in my heart, challenge me to think, and encourage me to press on. My husband and I are just beginning our adoption journey; the application paperwork started in February 2011 and at the moment our home study is being reviewed by our placing agency! I only recently heard of The Empowered to Connect conference(through your site and a friend) and one of K.Purvis book. I can't wait to get a hold of the book to help us prepare in the "waiting months". Lord willing, my husband and I will be able to get to the conference in Nashville. We are trying to line up childcare for our 4 children.

I already subscribe to *your feed and *ETC's feed. My favorite feature on ETC would have to be the free videos and audios. I watch/listen to them at night while I knit or crochet Christmas gifts, and the things I've learned from these videos/audios have made a definite difference in our home life. Very grateful for ETC!

I have really liked the Audio series – particularly the audio on "Adoption from the Inside Out" – I think it gave my husband and I lots fo things to continue to work on together and not just with the kiddos (sometimes being so kid focused has been hard on US.)

    Thanks for the opportunity.

I really like the short videos on the ETC site- just spurts of reminders and grace/love when I'm reflecting at night. I liked One Thankful Mom on Facebook, I already subscribe to both your blog and the ETC blog

I have two little ones – biological – but I experienced some trauma during the pregnancy and right after birth with my second (my son)…our connection was really affected although God totally preserved some areas of attachment… We've been using TBRI and ETC concepts for both of my children – it has been a wonderful, redeeming gift for the time I felt like I 'lost' with them. Love your blog – seriously feel mentored by your honesty and depth of relating and choosing engagement with your kids. Thank you for your vulnerability and helping some of us out to here to see and read hope.

Pick me! Pick me! 🙂 I want the DVDs…all of them. But if I had to pick just one, it would be the DVD on Playful Interaction.

Of the free downloads, I really, really like the one about the role of fear in our kids lives. It had been something I can give to friends, family, and teachers that help explain where my daughter is coming from.

I already an subscribed to ETC on my Reader and now I also like you on Facebook.
