Another Happy Birthday

Little Man picked this lovely bouquet for me today. Don’t you just want to kiss his cheeks?

Today was Russ’ 46th birthday! To add to the excitement, we had friends visiting. We hung out in the backyard, went to the pool, and consumed a lot of good food.

I am very blessed to have my dear friend, Signe, nearby. Her family brought a little boy home from Ethiopia last spring, so now rather than just being a supportive friend, she is sharing the experience of international adoption with me. We’ve met a lot of other neat friends along the way, and this weekend Andrea, and her family came to visit. Marissa and her crew were going to join us, but they got sick and had to miss the fun.

You can see Andrea’s husband on the left and Signe’s husband on the right, with a bunch of cute kids in the mix. With seven Ethiopian children, it was like a mini reunion.

Honeybee arranged the candles in a 46 and then added a few more to get all 46 candles on the cake. It was actually quite warm with the candles blazing.

You have to check out this recipe from The Pioneer Woman for Asian Noodle Salad; it was a huge hit. There is lots of chopping involved, but you feel healthy just handling all of the veggies that go in this tasty dish. Signe did her fair share of the slicing and dicing and we all chatted while we worked, so it went quickly. Pioneer Woman’s site is also great for learning new photography techniques, which I love to do, but don’t seem to have time for right now.

Tomorrow I am heading back to Seattle for another appointment with our extraordinary therapist. This time Dimples will meet with her too. Mimi is coming along to keep me company; thankfully she can drive when I get too sleepy on the way home.

Sweet Pea called from France today where she is having a lovely visit. It was great to hear her voice and share her excitement over all that she is experiencing.

I'm deeply honored to be the co-author, together with the late Dr. Karyn Purvis, of The Connected Parent; it is her final written work. I love speaking at events for adoptive and foster parents.
