AHOPE – Raising Funds and Having Fun

Dimples and friends model AHOPE t-shirts

Our family had a great time last Sunday running a table for AHOPE for Children at the Nuart Block Party. The event was sponsored by the Nuart, a Christian ministry, and featured seven bands, food, and fun for the kids. Marissa, our AHOPE Store Manager and all-round Development volunteer came from Boise with her cute kids which made it even more fun. Some local friends joined us to help out as well.

We were very encouraged by the the number of t-shirts we sold and the general interest in AHOPE. Mimi, who doesn’t have a shy bone in her body, managed to get the guys from three of the bands to wear AHOPE shirts while performing. Darren from Rocks Will Cry even promoted AHOPE from the stage and encouraged fans to come buy shirts. The Afters, who headlined the event, took photos with Mimi and the shirts.

The Afters – loving our AHOPE shirts

In honor of the event, I am hosting a raffle for an AHOPE t-shirt on my blog. Donations, made by clicking on the PayPal button, go directly into the AHOPE store account and give you a chance to win a shirt. Every dollar you donate will count as an individual raffle ticket.

Of course, if you would like to purchase shirts, you can always go to our AHOPE store site. Due to the generosity of Hall Closet Uniforms, a significant portion of the proceeds from each shirt goes directly to AHOPE for Children. Your t-shirt purchases truly do make a difference.

You can see that the crowd loved our shirts!

We plan to launch AHOPE hoodies and some other great items in the next two weeks. I’ll keep you all posted.

In family news, Honeybee continues to adjust to her new life. She is full of affection and fun. There are challenges in learning how to live in a family and we still have some tears, especially over being required to help clean up the house, but overall, she is doing great.

Thanks for stopping by and don’t forget to enter the raffle (or buy shirts on our site)! One dollar can make a difference in the life of a child.

Let me introduce myself. Russ and I are the parents of twelve children by birth and adoption, and sometimes more through foster care. I'm the creator of One Thankful Mom which has been as much of a gift to me as to my readers. In 2011 I became a TBRI® Pracitioner* and have lived and breathed connected parenting ever since. I'm deeply honored to be the co-author, together with the late Dr. Karyn Purvis, of The Connected Parent; it is her final written work. I love speaking at events for adoptive and foster parents. I'm also the co-founder of The Adoption Connection, a podcast and resource site for adoptive moms. I mentor and encourage adoptive moms so you can find courage and hope in your journeys of loving your children well.
