Kalkidan’s story

There is no page more dear to me than this one, Kalkidan’s story, which makes it very hard to write. I get a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes when I try.

God gave Kalkidan to us for a time, it was much shorter than we expected. In the years she was with us, we were changed by her; she had that effect on many people. Kalkidan broke our hearts for the suffering and wounded of this world.

Mom, Dad, Kalkidan

We will never be the same.

There are hundreds of posts about Kalkidan in the archives if you want to read more. I wrote about our accident in the series, Remembering Moments; I wasn’t able to complete it. Maybe one day I will.

Three Sisters

Kalkidan ran the race God set before her – it was a sprint, not a marathon, and she ran it with all of her might – right into the arms of Jesus.

Our hearts are broken, and yet, we are thankful God counted us worthy to be her family, to love her and give her our name.

We love you, we miss you, we can’t wait to see you again.

For I am convinced that neither death nor life,
nor angels nor rulers
nor things present nor things to come,
nor powers,
nor height nor depth,
nor anything else in all creation,
will be able to separate us from the love of God
in Christ Jesus our Lord.    Romans 8:38-39
