A Sad Day for AHOPE

I had the responsibility of sharing this sad information with our AHOPE group:

I am sorry to share the sad news that one of our AHOPE babies died
yesterday and her funeral was today. Samrawit was very sick when she
came into care and despite all efforts, she didn’t survive. She was a
little over one year old.

We know that our other children and staff are grieving this loss, so
please remember them. Additionally, some of you have recently
returned from trips to AHOPE and I know this is particularly sad news
for you.

Samrawit’s death breaks my heart. In the United States we have such good medical care available to children with HIV, that we rarely hear of a child dying. Even at AHOPE, we have not had a child die in years, but Samrawit was very ill when she arrived – she just got to AHOPE too late.

There is so much to do on behalf of the children of Africa. For the sake of the little ones, we need to press on with the work God has set before us.

Let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we will reap if we do not lose heart. Gal 6:9

I am so sorry that she passed away. What a hard thing for the staff and children at AHOPE to go through. They will be in my prayers.

Lisa, I grieve her loss too and will be praying for the kids, the nannies and the lives touched by the blessing of AHOPE. Praise God she is safely home in His arms without illness or worry ever again. Love you!

I am completely amazed by your blog.. I found it through a blog, that led me to another..etc…My absolute dream in life is to adopt from Africa. I am single and 34. This has been a dream since I was small. You inspire me. I am a nurse in a NICU…and we have many private adoption cases. These babies are so wanted, and almost always spoken for. I trust that in God and God alone a dream can become reality. I don’t even know where to get started…etc. I have never been moved like I was after reading you blog, and watching your youtube video. I wish you had a public email address. I would LOVE to learn more. Blessings, and prayers to you and your family. And the new little one that will join your family soon.
