A Glimpse into B.

I recently got an email about B. from a volunteer and it was so sweet that I had to share it here. I’ve edited it to remove identifying information about other children.

I had a great conversation with B. yesterday! T., the dear little English student that she is, helped translate. B. is so happy about her new family! She has the package tucked away under her mattress, but proudly pulled it out and showed it to me. She loves the little book of pictures that they sent. I asked her if she is happy that she’s going to America and she grinned and nodded emphatically. I pointed to the pictures and said “are these your brothers and sisters?” and she said, “yes, 10!” When I told her that she would make 11 she gave me a huge smile. She also showed me the cards and pictures that her mom, dad, brothers, and sisters sent. She pointed out the one from “Dimples” (sorry, I’m sure that’s spelled wrong). I asked her if she remembered and loved “Dimples” and she said yes. She also said that she’s very happy they will be sisters. At the end of the conversation she asked me many times when her family is coming and I had to tell her that I don’t know. But please let her family know that she is very eager for them to arrive! Also, on a somewhat different note, do you and her family know that B. recently got glasses? She looks adorable in them. It’s not a very strong prescription, but she still wears them all the time. I think she likes having them because T. and N. both do and she looks up to them.

We were so happy to read this! Sometimes the wait seems so long, but this will keep us going for a little while – at least until we hear when our court date is.

Let me introduce myself. Russ and I are the parents of twelve children by birth and adoption, and sometimes more through foster care. I'm the creator of One Thankful Mom which has been as much of a gift to me as to my readers. In 2011 I became a TBRI® Pracitioner* and have lived and breathed connected parenting ever since. I'm deeply honored to be the co-author, together with the late Dr. Karyn Purvis, of The Connected Parent; it is her final written work. I love speaking at events for adoptive and foster parents. I'm also the co-founder of The Adoption Connection, a podcast and resource site for adoptive moms. I mentor and encourage adoptive moms so you can find courage and hope in your journeys of loving your children well.
