A Few Whidbey Island Pictures

As always, we had a wonderful time at Whidbey Island. This year was warmer and sunnier than ever. K. had been home only a little over a week when we left, but you would never have guessed it. She was in her swimsuit, playing on the beach, paddling the canoe, and running on the drifted logs within the first day. E. loved digging in the sand and playing in the water – he has an amazing tolerance for cold water! Puget Sound is not known for being warm.

We took a photo of the kids for an adoption announcement, actually we took many photos hoping for one good one. The one above is not the winner, but I liked it anyhow. I also took individual shots of K., E., and W. for the announcement. Hopefully I’ll get them mailed in a week or so. I am learning not to place expectations on myself for anything beyond the essentials, because most days I don’t get beyond food, diapers, laundry, more diapers, more food, and lots of child training.

N. and E. hanging out on the beach.

A. and K. on “the Tube”. This huge tube came in on a big storm years ago and all of the kids who visit love to log roll on it and play inside it. The white cabin behind the girls is the one we rent every year, and is one of the cabins I grew up staying in.

There are always great beach forts to remodel.

In this picture, S. is way out in the water, but it is so shallow that he is just above his waist. When the tide goes out it is incredible – we walk for hours on the tide flats.

Thanks for stopping by.

Let me introduce myself. Russ and I are the parents of twelve children by birth and adoption, and sometimes more through foster care. I'm the creator of One Thankful Mom which has been as much of a gift to me as to my readers. In 2011 I became a TBRI® Pracitioner* and have lived and breathed connected parenting ever since. I'm deeply honored to be the co-author, together with the late Dr. Karyn Purvis, of The Connected Parent; it is her final written work. I love speaking at events for adoptive and foster parents. I'm also the co-founder of The Adoption Connection, a podcast and resource site for adoptive moms. I mentor and encourage adoptive moms so you can find courage and hope in your journeys of loving your children well.

Wonderful pictures. It looks like a fabulous place for a family vacation! Praying you get some time in your day for just you and I know that will be a miracle.
