A Birthday Morning and Mimi Update

Thank you all for your prayers.  Mimi’s procedure went great and she should come home from the hospital today.  We stayed with her until late yesterday afternoon when we could see that she was feeling better.  It was very sweet to be with Mimi and Andrew during this time.  We met them in Spokane on Sunday evening and shared dinner along with lots of laughter and time to catch up on their lives.  We all stayed in a hotel across the street from the hospital which was very convenient since she had to check in at 5:30 a.m.

It is Tuesday morning and life is going at breakneck speed.  Today is Ladybug’s 13th birthday – and I still haven’t posted about Honeybee’s 12th birthday last week!  I think a birthday post – or at least a few pictures, is in order.  Due to Ladybug’s volleyball game today and Mimi just coming home from the hospital, we are going to postpone celebrating until tomorrow night.  Whew!  I have one day to catch my breath.

My mind is on Nashville and the Empowered to Connect conference. I’ve been praying and thinking about it so much and now I need to start packing, finish up my short talk, write a schedule for the family, plan a menu, and get ready.  It is no small feat leaving my family for a few days!  I am deeply grateful for a husband who encourages me to serve Jesus and other families in this way.

I’m off to see the dress rehearsal of Honeybee’s class play (which I’ll miss on Friday), then home to work with my homeschoolers.  My “to-do” list is completely ridiculous, so I’m going to focus on the most important and see what I can accomplish.

Oh, and did I mention that Rusty broke a bone in his hand and took himself to the doctor yesterday?  Life is always exciting.

    Hi Friend-

Thought I'd check in on the blog to see if I could discern whether you might want to chat over laundry today… looks like your day is crazy, so we'll try again another day. Glad Mimi is doing well! We are settling in well around here. I look forward to catching up soon. Oh, and I managed to catch that friend this morning and tell her to introduce herself in Nashville this weekend! Take care…

I had so wished to see you at the conference. We bought our tickets beginning of June. But our summer pretty well fell apart. We are heading into some intensive counseling next week, so the possibliity of going to Nashville was wiped out for us. We have given our tickets to another couple and hope they can make it. I'll be praying for you as you prepare for the conference and for those attending to be blessed by what you share with them.

Happy (belated) Birthday, Ladybug! I know that you probably don't "know" all of your mom's blogging friends, but we feel like we know your family. It has been a joy to watch you grow up & display such grace. Blessings from afar – hope it was a great birthday for you!
