I am on the long, slow road to recovering from the flu.  Yesterday I felt so much better, today, not so much.

Isaiah used this quote in his talk at Refresh and several people have asked for it.

The most beautiful people we have known are those who have known defeat, known suffering, known struggle, known loss, and have found their way out of those depths. These persons have an appreciation, a sensitivity, and an understanding of life that fills them with compassion, gentleness, and a deep loving concern. Beautiful people do not just happen. – Elisabeth Kubler Ross

I had a post nearly completed for today, but don’t have the energy to finish it, hopefully tomorrow. In the meantime, I need to be thankful.

Love "children who TRIED to be quiet" … made me smile. Thankful for first session of EMDR with our son. Thankful for the song playing on radio as we drove there. "Even if the healing doesn't come. You are good You are God Forever faithful"

Love the quote … encouraging thought … I rarely, actually, never have pictured our child from a hard place as being whole … full of compassion, gentleness and loving concern.

God's mercies that are new every morning, especially for someone as messy and screwed up as myself.

That is a beautiful quote. Thanks so much for sharing. I may use it sometime soon. It is full of grace and truth. Hope you are feeling better soon.

Thanks for sharing that quote-I have found it to be true many times, such beauty in people who have experienced much. On the other hand, not everyone that has been through much pain and suffering comes out with that sensitivity and understanding. Why/how do some walk through such pain and come out healthy and whole and others continually strive for peace and well-being? Why are some so resilient and others not?
This is another quote along the same lines that I posted yesterday: "Any dance of celebration must weave both the sorrows and the blessings into a joyful step…to heal is to let the Holy Spirit call me to dance, to believe again, even amid my pain, that God will orchestrate and guide my life." -Henry Nouwen
